George L. Davenport was a fur trader with the American Fur Company, a Sauk and Fox liaison, and a prominent Davenport, Iowa businessman. His father, Colonel Davenport, was an army sutler, fur trader, Indian agent and co-founder of Davenport, Iowa. Naomi Davenport was the daughter of George L. Davenport.
