Auburn Knights Orchestra
Organized by students of Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University, in 1928 as a studio band to play for the campus radio station, WAPI. The Knights played their first dance date in 1930. During the 1930s and 1940s they toured along the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts. The band has been in continual existence except for a hiatus from 1943-1946. The Auburn Knights Alumni Association began holding annual reunions in 1956, featuring concerts and jam sessions by former members.
