St. Josaphat (Church : Chicago, Ill.)
Variant namesSt. Josaphat Parish was founded by the Kashube/ Polish immigrants from Bismark's Prussia in 1883. The first pastors were members of the Resurrectionist Fathers and the first teachers were Sisters of Charity. In 1885 the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth took charge until recently. St. Josaphat Parish has gone through a great deal of changes along with the Lincoln Park neighborhood since its founding. In 1999, the registry contained over 1100 families of varying races and ethnicities.
