Gamble (Harvard, M.D. 1910) taught pediatrics at Johns Hopkins from 1915 to 1922, and then joined the staff of the Harvard Medical School and Children's Hospital. He was a noted researcher in biochemistry and pediatrics, and his work focused on the application of the methods of chemistry to the study of disease. His studies of the physiology and pathology of extracellular fluid are classic.
