Northern Textile Association.

Hide Profile

Two associations, the New Bedford Cotton Manufacturers' Association (NBC) and the Fall River Textile Manufacturers Association, were formed in New Bedford, Mass. in the early 20th century by textile manufacturers in the two cities to act in unison in labor matters. In 1945 the member mills of the two associations began to negotiate as a consolidated group with representatives of production employees at the various mills. Unions involved in negotiations included the Textile Workers Union of America, the United Textile Workers of America, and the New Bedford Loomfixers' Union. In 1952 the practices of the two associations were codified by the formation of the Fall River-New Bedford Textile Manufacturers Negotiating Group (FRNA); the group continued the practice of jointly negotiating labor contracts for member mills with the appropriate unions.
