The Judicial Council of Florida was created in 1953 (Ch. 28062, Laws) and consisted of justices, lawyers, and laymen appointed by the Governor. The Council made a continuous study and survey of the organization, practice, and procedure of the court system; compiled, analyzed, and published statistics showing court work; investigated criticisms and suggestions from any source relating to the administration of justice; and recommended to the Legislature any changes in the judiciary. The Council was abolished in 1980 and its duties were transferred to the Dept. of Legal Affairs (Ch. 80-320, Laws, 1980).
