Dave Ibata is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a bachelor of science degree in journalism and currently works as a rewrite editor for Chicago Tribune Interactive, the Internet affiliate of the Chicago Tribune. As a student at SIU he was the editor in chief of the Daily Egyptian and since then he has served as a source editor, deputy bureau chief, metro writer specializing in suburban affairs and transportation, and business reporter covering real estate and savings institutions. Before joining the Tribune, Dave worked in public relations and for daily newspapers in suburban Chicago. Dave is a founding member, former chapter president and national board member of the Chicago Chapter, Asian American Journalists Association. He also formerly served on the board of the Chicago Tribune Foundation, the charitable giving arm of the Chicago Tribune. A, Dave is married, has three children and lives in Arlington Heights, Ill.
