Florence Becker Lennon (1895-1984) was born in New York City. She received a Bachelor's degree in anthropology at Columbia University and a Master's degree in education at the University of Colorado. A poet and author, she published four books of poetry including "Forty Years in the Wilderness", and a biography of Lewis Carroll, "Victoria Through the Looking-glass: The Life of Lewis Carroll. This was later revised and reissued as "The Life of Lewis Carroll" in America. Lennon served as a freelance writer for the New York Call, the Boulder Daily Camera, and Town & Country Review. She hosted the radio program, "The Enjoyment of Poetry" on WEVD in New York, and later in Boulder on KGNU. Lennon's central preoccupation was Global Housekeeping, that is, learning to live with one another and caring for the environment. In 1975, the University of Colorado awarded her an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.

Florence Becker Lennon was born in New York City on February 20, 1895, the daughter of Johanna Beran and Leon Tanenbaum. She received a Bachelor's degree in anthropology at Columbia University and a Master's degree in education at the University of Colorado. A poet and author, she published four books of poetry, including Forty Years in the Wilderness, and a biography of Lewis Carroll, Victoria Through the Looking-Glass: The Life of Lewis Carroll . She had two daughters, Heloise (Becky), born in 1927, and Isadora (Twinkie), born in 1929.
