Doremus, John E. C. (John Edward Caldwell), 1816-1878.
A graduate of New York University (NYU) (A.B. 1836, A.M. 1849, honorary D.D. 1860), Doremus was a lawyer in Springfield, Illinois in the late 1830s-early 1840s. He became a minister and served churches in Mississippi, Texas, and Louisiana.
