Schuyler, Walter Scribner, 1850-1932.

Born in 1850, Walter S. Schuyler graduated from West Point and served with the United States Army in the trans-Mississippi West during the 1870s and 1880s, developing a close relationship with General George Crook. During and after the Spanish-American War, he saw duty in Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and Cuba and also was assigned as a military observer in Manchuria during the Russo-Japanese War. After his retirement from the army in 1913, he devoted himself fully to the affairs of the Sierra-Alaska Mining Company of California. He died in San Francisco, California in 1932.
