Hide Profile

Although pictorial representations of mission work had been collected by mission agencies virtually since the camera's invention, it was not until the 1920s that the Board of National Missions assembled them into a working collection, and not until the 1940s that they set about producing photographs of mission in action in an organized way. Please refer to the finding aid for the complex administrative history of the bodies responsible for this function.
