Seattle's Dept. of Parks and Recreation maintains the city's parks, shorelines, and boulevards; and administers community centers, public golf courses, and other athletic and cultural facilities. Funds for the Open Space Program derived from a 1989 King County voter-approved bond issue. Greenbelts acquired included slopes near Queen Anne, Magnolia and Capitol Hills and land near the Duwamish River.
