Battell, Philip, 1807-1897
Variant namesPhilip Battell was born in Norfolk, Conn., and graduated from Middlebury College. Professionally a lawyer, he practiced in Connecticut and in Cleveland, Ohio, before returning to Middlebury, Vt., in 1838. He was active in genealogical and historical research.
