Nelson, Linda, 1955-

Linda Nelson was active in the Iowa Socialist Party and the Socialist Party USA. She was part of the core group that reenergized the Iowa party in the late 1970s. In 1979 she ran for the Iowa City city council on the People's Alliance ticket. She served as ISP state organizer while Bill Douglas was in jail, and for many years was editor of the Iowa Idea newsletter. Nelson served on the national committee of the SPUSA, and was Co-chair of the party in the 1980s. She brought feminism and consensus decision making to the national party and helped to rewrite its statement of principles.
