Georgia Democratic Party Forum

Hide Profile

The Georgia Democratic Party Forum, a splinter group of the state Democratic Party, originated in 1966 and supported Governor Ellis G. Arnall in his unsuccessful bid for governor. The Forum gained national attention in 1968 when it sent a slate of delegates to the National Democratic Convention in Chicago, and ultimately succeeded in casting half of Georgia's votes. The Write-In Georgia campaign was initiated by a group of citizens who felt former Governor Ellis Arnall could best support their interests in the 1966 campaign. Write-In Georgia received endorsements from several organizations including the Georgia State AFL-CIO.
