Fenwick, George, 1801-1857.

George Fenwick was born in Georgetown, D.C., in 1801. He received his education at Georgetown College and subsequently joined the Society of Jesus. Fr. Fenwick was one of the young American Jesuits sent to Rome in 1820, and he spent much of the following decade in Europe. After his return to the United States, Fr. Fenwick took a position at Georgetown College, where he was to pass most of his career. He died at Georgetown in 1857.
