He was also interested in getting Class A baseball to Rockford. Attempted to get the Chicago Bears to move their off season practice grounds to Rockford and building a zoo in the city. Served on Judiciary, Appropriations, Rules and other committees. Minority Whip in 83rd and 84th G.A. and assistant minority leader in 85th G.A.
