Missionary surgeon; born April 29, 1888 in Canada; medical education in London, Glasgow, Vienna and Toronto; Bible school education in Glasgow; joined China Inland Mission, 1913; worked as surgeon, medical teacher and administrator at Kaifeng, Honan, 1913-1939; itinerant medical work, 1939-1940; stationed in Tali, Yunnan, 1940-1952; left China as part of mission's general of evacuation from China, 1952; joined faculty of Biola School of Missionary Medicine, 1954; naturalized as an United States citizen, 1957; died January 6, 1980.
