Began as the University Editorial Office in 1922; renamed Division of Communication in 1954; changed to Office of Public Information and Publications in 1964, and absorbed University News, Sports Information, Photography, Publications and Central Duplicating; became the Office of Public Information in 1967; Sports Information was transferred to the Division of Athletics in the 1970's; renamed in 1986 as Office of University Relations; in 1987 divided into two offices: Institutional Relations and University Publications.
