Kreider, Noble W. (Noble Wickham)
Variant namesVery little information is available concerning Noble Wickham Kreider. He was born in 1874 in Goshen, Indiana, where he remained a life-long resident.
Arthur Farwell was an early champion of Kreider's work. In Musical America (May 22, 1909), Farwell wrote: "Kreider had drunk deep at the fountain of Chopin, and if the draught had somewhat qualified the nature of his own imagination, this was no more than happens to most successful composers whose earlier works are apt to disclose the sources of their first inspirations. But Kreider's music revealed also an imaginative quality of its own, which asserted itself with increasing strength in his more recently composed works, and indicated that here was a personality which was bound to find its way to individual expression." Farwell helped Kreider get some of his works published, and corresponded with Kreider at least into the 1930s. During a significant part of his career, Kreider taught music.
Noble W. Kreider died in Goshen, Indiana, in December 1959.
