Hide Profile

In January 1975, the U.S. Lutheran - Roman Catholic Dialogue authorized a joint Lutheran - Roman Catholic study regarding "Mary in the New Testament." The study, designed to examine some of the critical problems regarding the role of Mary, was undertaken by a group of theologians involved in the U.S. Lutheran - Roman Catholic Dialogues and other New Testament scholars. Addressing an issue in which it was thought the Dialogues would encounter, the study produced the document, "Mary in the New Testament" in 1978. The USANC, its successor body LWM, and the Catholic Biblical Society of America financially supported the project.
