This is a map of the partition of such part as remained to be divided of a certain tract of land granted to Frances Rumbout Jacobus Kip & Stephanus Van Cortlandt by letters patent of his Late Majesty King James the Second under the great seal of the Province of Newyork baring [date] the seventeenth day of October in the first year of his reign and in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred & eighty five all that tract or parcell of l[and] situate lying & being on the east side of Hudsons River and on the north side of the high lands begining from the south side of a creek called the F[ish] Kill and by the Indians Matteawen and from thence northward along said Hudsons River five hundred rods beyond the Great Wappingers Kill called by the Indians Mawenawasing being the northwardly bounds and from thence into the woods four hours going (that is to say,) sixteen English miles always keeping five hundred [rods] distant from the north side of said Great Wappingers Creek however it runs as also from the said Fish Kill or creek called Matteawen along the said Fish Creek into the woods at the foot of the high hills including all the reed or low lands at the south side of said creek with an easterly line four hours going that is to say sixteen miles into the woods and from thence northwardly to the end of the four hours going (to wit) sixteen English miles [or] line drawn at the north side of the hundred rod beyond the Great Wappinger Creek or Kill called Mawenawassing which part of the said patent so remaining to be divided wee have laid out in the following manner (that is to say- two lots laid out for defraying the expence of the partition and three allotments to be ballotted (to wit) south allotment east allotment and the allotment on the north side of the Wappingers Creek called inclusive / given under our hands this twelfth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty-five, Jonathan Brown, Peter Monfort, Charles LaRoux, Charles Webb- surveyor.
