Chicago, Illinois businessman, who had six houses built on a block of Vincennes Ave. between 36th and 37th streets designed by architect W.G. Barfield and built by Peterson and DeLaby, all of Chicago. Many other Chicago business, such as plumbers, gas fitters, roofers, etc. involved in the building. Morris also owned a "Lithographers-Job Printers-Stationers & Blank Books" business.

Morris was an army surgeon during the Civil War, apparently enlisting with the 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteers. He also served as a quartermaster. He was a graduate of Jefferson Medical College.
