Barfield and built by Peterson and DeLaby, all of Chicago. Many other Chicago business, such as plumbers, gas fitters, roofers, etc. involved in the building. Morris also owned a "Lithographers-Job Printers-Stationers & Blank Books" business.
Morris was an army surgeon during the Civil War, apparently enlisting with the 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteers. He also served as a quartermaster. He was a graduate of Jefferson Medical College.
