Todd, Laurence, 1882-1957

Laurence Todd was born December 15, 1882 in Nottawa, Michigan. He was a reporter for the Kalamazoo Gazette (1904-05), later its city editor (1907). During this period, 1905-1908, Todd also attended the University of Michigan but did not graduate. He next moved to California, working as a reporter for the San Francisco Bulletin (1909), the San Francisco News (1909-1912), and as correspondents for the Scripps news service in. Sacramento (1912). He then moved to Washington D.C. working with United Press Bureau (1912-1913) and as correspondent for the International News Service (1913-1915). From 1915-1916, he was Secretary to Socialist Congressman Meyer London. Following, he became correspondent for the Non-Partisan Leader and other labor papers (1916-1919); the Federated Press (1919-1933); and TASS (the telegraph agency of the Soviet Union, 1923-1952). He also reported on the San Francisco conference establishing the United Nations and other UN conferences. He died November 30, 1957.
