Lockwood, William W. (William Wirt), 1906-1978
Variant namesLockwood, who served as assistant chief of the Division of Japanese and Korean Economic Affairs in the U.S. State Department (1945), was considered a leading authority in the field of Far Eastern affairs. In 1946 he came to Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs as assistant director; he served as a faculty member there until 1971. Lockwood was a frequent contributor to scholarly journals and the author of numerous studies and reports on economic and political developments in the Far East.
