Baxter (1676 Jun. 11-1745 May 2) graduated from Harvard College, 1693 and received his M.A. in 1696. He became the pastor of the Medfield (Mass.) Congregational Church in January 1696 (ordained in 1697 Apr. 21) and served there until his death in 1745. In addition, he also served as an occasional missionary to Indians in Maine and on Nantucket.--Cf. Sibley's Hardard graduates, v. 4, 1690-1700.
