Tufts, James, 1764-1841
James Tufts (1764-1841) was the son of William and Margaret Tufts of New Braintree, Mass. He graduated from Brown University in 1789 and completed his theological studies with Nathaniel Emmons (1745-1840) of Franklin, Mass. Tufts was ordained in 1794 and installed as minister to the Congregational Church in Wardsboro, Vt., where he served until his death in 1841.
