Incorporated in 1864; served as a connecting link with a branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad which ran between Camden, through Pemberton and Hightstown to the New Jersey shore; in 1888 taken over as a lessee of the newly formed Union Transportation Company; in 1915 reorganized with two other railroads as Pennsylvania & Atlantic Railroad (still lessee of UT); ca. 1979 all properties taken over by Penn Central.
