Foundation established in 1977 to save historic motion picture studio built in 1919 in Astoria, Queens. Many famous stars made movies there, and from 1942-1971 it was operated by the U.S. Army as its Pictorial Center. Museum scheduled to open in 1987 will have exhibitions, cinematheque, a library, and an active education program.
