In 1926, Peter F. White was serving with the Royal Engineers when he joined the Cambridge East Greenland Expedition (leader James Mann Wordie), as lieutenant in charge of survey work. The expedition spent the summer surveying the coast of the Franz Josefs Fjord area of east Greenland.
