After the partition of Czechoslovakia in 1939, the nuncio moved his residence to Bratislava to continue his mission in Slovakia. He left the country soon thereafter after he had difficulty being accredited to the new government. From 1940 to 1945 the office was represented by a charge d'affaires. The office was closed in 1945 with the reconstitution of Czechoslovakia.
