Purvis, Joseph D.
Joseph David Purvis was born in Willacoochee, Atkinson County, Georgia, in 1915. He graduated from South Georgia Teachers College in 1936, then began a long career with the F.B.I. His books are: Savannah Bits and Pieces (1976), The Era of J. Edgar (1998), Growing Up in Willacoochee (2002), and Back To Folklore (2006). Mr. Purvis died in June 2008, at the age of 93.
