Katherine Yoder Scharrer was a member of the graduating class of 1922 at the North Carolina College for Women (NCCW), now known as UNCG. In her final year as a student, she was the Adelphian Vice-President and was involved with International Relations and the Education Club. She earned her bachelor's degree in education on June 6, 1922. In October 1922, she began work at the library on campus as an assistant in charge of documents; one year later she was working at the circulation desk. Scharrer continued to work at the library until 1924, when she returned home to Linville, N.C. to wed Andrew (Andy) Scharrer on November 27, 1924. Katherine and Andy, a bookkeeper from Charlotte, N.C., originally made their home in Charlotte but later moved to Miami, Fla. Katherine's mother, Emily Manetta Asbury Yoder, was a member of the class of 1896 at the State Normal and Industrial School, now UNCG.
