Stephen Rogers Peck was born in Cortland, New York. He trained at the College of Fine Arts at Syracuse University, which had been founded by George Fisk Comfort, the founder of the Syracuse Museum of Fine Arts, an institution where Peck later exhibited. Peck was professionally active in New York and died in Florida. He also taught at the Pratt Institute.
