Minoru Masuda (1915-1980) was a University of Washington professor of psychiatry. Masuda was born in Seattle, served in the Japanese American 442nd Combat Unit during World War II, and earned his Ph. D. from the University of Washington in 1956. His scholarly accomplishments include studies of the relationship of stress to illness. At the time of his death, he was director of the University of Washington Nisei Aging Project. He was active in civil rights causes, especially in attempting to obtain redress for those Japanese Americans who were incarcerated during World War II. He served as president of the Seattle chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League in the 1970s.
