Banta, Albert Franklin, 1843-1924.
Newspaperman, scout and public servant, Albert Banta came to Arizona in 1863. He began working at the Tucson Citizen in 1870, established five newspapers and edited others at various times. He served as deputy Sheriff in Pima County, district attorney of Apache County, probate judge, scout, guide and Indian fighter under Gen. Crook, Stoneman and others.
