Richard Shaw was born May 21, 1923, in Greensboro, NC. His work experience included librarian and book editor, but his main career was as a professor of English. As a writer he has written for both children and youing adults. He says that most of his writing is based either upon personal experience, or experiences of other people that he has heard about.
