Faith Baldwin enjoyed an unusually long and prolific career as a popular romance writer. Her works generally portray wealthy, attractive characters in a way that made it possible for Depression-era readers to identify with them. Her old-fashioned romances enjoyed only mixed critical reaction, probably due to formulaic plots, but were they immensely popular, and supported values of stability and togetherness.
