Nathaniel Pryor Reed was born on July 22, 1933 in New York, New York. He received a B.A. from Trinity College in 1955, and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He was Vice President of the Hobe Sound Company in Hobe Sound, Florida, 1960 to 1971; a member of the Florida Board of Antiquities, 1962 to 1963; and a member of the Florida Board of Pollution Control in 1968. From 1967 to 1971, he served as Special Assistant to the Governor of Florida for the Environment, and from 1969 to 1971 he was Chairman of the Florida Department of Air and Water Pollution Control. Reed served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Fish and Wildlife and Parks, 1971 to 1977. He returned to Florida in 1977 and served as Town Commissioner in Hobe Sound, Florida, 1977 to 1978. Since 1978 he has been a member of the South Florida Water Management District Governing Board, and from 1980 to 1984 he was a member of Treasure Coast Planning.

Nathaniel Pryor Reed was born in New York City, July 23, 1933. He graduated from Trinity College in Connecticut with a B.A. in 1955 and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force (1955-1959). He was Assistant Secretary of the Interior in the Nixon and Ford administrations (1971-77.) He has served in numerous offices in Florida, including that of Special Assistant to the Governor (Kirk) for the Environment, 1967-1971, and as a member of the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District for many years. He has been an officer or board member of numerous environmental organizations, including the National Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, the National Resources Defense Council, and 1000 Friends of Florida.
