Daniel L. McKinley (1925-2010) was a biology professor and historian of natural history. He joined the faculty of the biology department at the State University of New York - Albany in 1966 and retired in 1989. "He was a quiet scholar whose writings often emphasized historical and biographical aspects of his subjects." McKinley authored the biography James Eights, 1798-1882: Antarctic Explorer, Albany Naturalist (Albany: University of the State of New York, State Education Department, 2005).
