Joseph Gallio Masters was born on on a homestead near Newton, Kan. on February 20, 1873. He worked in Neb. as a teacher, principal, superintendent of schools, and WPA Supervisor of Education for Omaha (1940-1942). Masters was also a member of the Nebraska State Historical Society and the Oregon Trail Memorial Association. He died on May 19, 1954 in Smethport, Pa.
