Farm Land Preservation Association, Inc.

Hide Profile

The Farm Land Preservation Association, Inc., was organized in 1976. The purpose of the association was to oppose the construction of a diagonal interstate (I-380) between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo, Iowa, in order to protect and preserve farmland. The corporation attempted to prevent the highway construction though legal action. After three years of litigation, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis gave the Iowa DOT permission to build the highway in 1979, and I-380 was completed in 1985.
