Nurczynski, Walter, 1893?-1962.
Valeria (or Valerie) Wycke Nurczynska (1897-1967), a singer, was born in Lodz, Poland. She came to the U.S. as a child, and studied voice. In 1920 she became a U.S. citizen. During World War II, she was chair of the United Women's Society of Greater Boston (affiliated with Polish War Relief). She was a member of the Polish National Alliance (Chicago), organizer and secretary of Lodge 3008; was a founder of the Polish Singers' Alliance of New England, and of Lira Chorus of Boston. Walter Nurczynski (1893-1962) was also born in Poland. He became a U.S. citizen in 1920. From 1937-1944, he produced the Boston area radio program "Echoes of Poland," and ca. 1943 was president of the Polish War Relief Committee of Boston.
