Walker, Thomas Alfred, 1862-1935
Variant namesThomas Alfred Walker (1862-1935), historian, was born on 16 February 1862, and educated privately and at Owens College, Manchester. He entered Peterhouse, Cambridge, in 1882, where he became a Fellow in 1886, and was dean, 1887-1900, tutor, 1897-1907, and bursar and librarian, 1904-1924. Walker was admitted at the Inner Temple in 1886. He was ordained deacon in 1896, and priest in 1898, and was Vicar of Cherry Hinton, 1908-1917, Rector and Vicar of Freckenham, Suffolk, 1917-1920, and Rector of Witnesham, 1924-1932. He acted as public examiner for the Law Tripos at Cambridge and in a similar role for other institutions. He died in Cambridge on 8 March 1935.
