D (1946) from University of Illinois; served with American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Mission in Sri Lanka as a teacher at Jaffna College, manager of mission press, board member of two mission hospitals, house parent of men's dormitory and occasional preacher, 1947-1960; served as correspondent for CHRISTIANITY TODAY in Sri Lanka, 1956-1960; directed various educaitonal programs in India and the U.S., 1960-1978; retired, 1978. Frances Crawford Holmes was born December 25, 1916; graduated from Wheaton College, 1938; married Robert Holmes, August 24, 1940, and had two children; served with husband as missionary, substitute teacher, house mother, director of Jaffna College choir, and with the Christian Literature Society.
