Members of the Wood family were long-time residents of Santa Fe. James A. Wood was born in the early 1840s and died in 1931. He married Ella with whom he had two children, Owen and Laura. James A. Wood held various positions, among others, he was the superintendent of the Santa Fe school district at the turn of the century and later in the Las Vegas, New Mexico, school district. Owen Wood, who inherited the family home at 511 Armijo St., Santa Fe, New Mexico, graduated from the Rose Rolytechnic Institute at Terre Haute, IN. He persued a career as draftsman with the U.S. Public Survey office and then as an officer with Mutual Building and Loan Association until his retirement in 1965. He participated in social activities in the Santa Fe Community, particularly with the Allison-James Presbyterian Mission School and its student.
