Virginia Yazoo Company
Hide Profile
The Virginia Yazoo Company was one of three companies established in 1789 to purchase land from the state of Georgia at a very low price. The legality of the companies purchasing land in Georgia was debated and sparked scandal. The incident is discussed in S. G. McLendon's History of the Public Domain of Georgia, (South Carolina: The Reprint Company, 1974), 35-39.
