During the early years of the eighteenth century John Ellis, antiquary and genealogist, of Taicroesion Ucha, Llechylched, Anglesey, compiled a collection of pedigrees in two volumes, mainly of Anglesey and Caernarfonshire families, known as the Taicroesion Book of Pedigrees . J. E. Griffith, in the preface to his Pedigrees of Caernarfonshire and Anglesey Families (1914) describes the collection as the most reliable authority relating to Anglesey and Caernarfonshire families.
