Bent, John Lionel
Variant namesJohn Bent was born in Paris, Maine and later moved to Boston, Mass. with his father, a printer. During the Civil War, Bent was a member of the U.S. Sanitary Commission. Towards the end of the diary he describes giving aid to members of the 4th Regiment Massachusetts Cavalry whose members had suffered casualties in a battle with the Confederates.
